Lincoln Police were called to an apartment in the 46-hundred block of Calvert Friday night. Officer Erin Spilker says 58 year old Maria Chong Hunkins told officers she was with a man when a female acquaintance of the man assaulted her.
Hunkins told police she then retrieved a .22 caliber rifle from her apartment for protection. “Officers found evidence that the rifle had been discharged inside the apartment,” Spilker says. “It was not discharged at anybody. Hunkins was found to be a convicted felon prohibiting her from possessing firearms.”
Hunkins was arrested for Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person and the rifle was recovered.
