A woman who died in a mobile home fire near NW 6th and Gaslight Lane around 8:30 Tuesday morning has been identified as 66 year old Rose Swanson. LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says a home health care worker called 911 after seeing smoke coming from the home.
“We had a report that the occupant was unable to evacuate and that they were trapped.” She says Swanson was on oxygen, which fueled the fire. The fire started in a bedroom and caused about $125,000 in damage. The mobile home is a complete loss.
Lierman says they are still trying to determine how the fire started. Five cats were rescued from the home. A sixth cat was later found in a closet. They were all turned over to Animal Control.
