Property tax relief legislation moved forward Thursday in the Unicameral when the Revenue Committee advanced LB 388 on a 7-0 vote.
The measure is projected to raise the state sales tax up to 1 cent, eliminate some sales tax exemptions and lower local school taxes by half or more.
The bill would deliver about $650 million to help lower property taxes. Governor Pillen was pushing for $1 billion in revenue. Paul Hammel has additional details in his report published by the Nebraska Examiner available here
