An arrest is made in the shooting of a 46 year old man Thursday in the 1700 block of N 27th Street. Police were called to that area around midnight. Officers found evidence that a gun had been fired and there was a possible victim. Minutes later, the victim arrived at a hospital with gunshot injuries to his legs. Officers processed the scene for evidence and interviewed a number of witnesses.
The shooter was identified as 38 year old David Hickman Jr. He was taken into custody in the 1700 block of N 27th Street around 1 p.m. without incident. Hickman is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Hickman was arrested for 1st Degree Assault, Discharge a Firearm near Building/Vehicle, Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person.
The victim remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
