A trailer home near Raymond is a total loss after a fire Monday afternoon. Lancaster County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says deputies and firefighters from Raymond, Ceresco and Malcolm responded to the home near NW 12 and Waverly Road around 4:30.
“When emergency personnel arrived, they found a home fully engulfed in flames,” Houchin says. The home, which was being rented, was valued at $18,000 and $16,000 in contents was lost. Everyone got out of the home safely along with two dogs, but two cats died in the fire and two more have not been found.
He says the residents tried to put the fire out with a garden hose, but it quickly got out of control. The state fire marshal says it was caused by an electrical issued underneath the home.
