A flattened car horn blared in a Lincoln neighborhood Thursday afternoon after gusty winds blew over a large tree and crushed a car parked in the street.

The tree shaded a home near South 27th and “E” Street in the Woods Park Neighborhood. A neighbor told KLIN News he heard a big gust of wind from inside his home across the street and then heard what sounded like a car crash.

“I heard the car alarm going off, which piqued my interest. I came out here, saw the tree on top of the car and bunch of people standing around.” The tree fell into the street and smashed the property resident’s vehicle. According to the neighbor, the tree was old and hollow so a collapse may have been only a matter of time.

Police contacted the resident who’s car was smashed. No one was injured.
