High school basketball players from across the state will be traveling to Lincoln over the next two weeks for the Girls and Boys State Basketball Tournaments, but fans can be the MVP of the road by ensuring safe travel for everyone. Nebraska State Patrol Troopers will be working overtime during those two weeks to keep all travelers safe on Nebraska roadways.
“We’re looking for buzzer beaters and championship moments during the state basketball tournaments this year,” says Colonel John Bolduc, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “These tournaments create memories that last a lifetime, but we want to make sure those memories are of the action on the court rather than a tragedy on the road.”
Thanks in part to grants from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office, extra troopers will be out on the roadways from border to border. The Girls Tournament runs through Saturday, March 2. The Boys Tournament runs from March 6 through March 9.
