Waverly Man Arrested For Fourth Drunk Driving Offense

By Tom Stanton Feb 21, 2024 | 11:28 AM

A Waverly man was arrested for his fourth DWI after a traffic stop early Tuesday morning. Lancaster County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says a deputy knew 37-year-old Zachary Collier had a warrant for his arrest and recognized his vehicle.

Houchin says the deputy pulled him over around 1:45 a.m. and alcohol was detected.  He says Collier failed a field sobriety test and was taken to the Lancaster County Jail where he did a breath test.  His blood alcohol content was .127.

“Very proud of the deputy, who has had enough experience in the Waverly area, to know the vehicle and that Zachary has been an issue for us for driving under the influence,” Houchin says.  Collier had previous drunk driving arrests in 2011, 2020 and this past December.

In addition to his fourth DWI arrest, Collier was cited for felony ignition interlock violation, driving under revocation and refusal of a preliminary breath test.
