National Weather Service is advising the Lincoln/Lancaster County area could receive an inch of snow Thursday night into Friday morning, but NWS Omaha Meteorologist Michaela Wood says its “nothing too impactful for Lincoln.”

The Nebraska/Soiuth Daktoa Boarder is taking the brunt of the snow, with a chance of 4 inches of snow fall, “But some of it could creep its way down towards Lincoln and the surrounding areas,” said Wood.

Snow is likely to start in the area between 9:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m. and be wrapped up by ~6:00 a.m. with an inch or less in accumulation.

“Ground temperatures will be pretty warm, so it’ll be hard for any that snowfall to accumulate at first, especially in the areas along and south of Interstate 80,” said Wood. “It’s possible we don’t get anything that sticks around, but up to an inch is certainly a possibility.”

Friday morning commutes could be impacted, especially north of Lancaster County. The city of Lincoln said winter crews are standing by to plow or apply granular salt pre-wet with brine as necessary.

Otherwise, conditions are expected to be sunny into Friday.
