A man is under arrest after stealing from a Casey’s gas station and damaging a vehicle Thursday night.

At approximately 8:14 p.m., officers responded to the area of 90th & Red Sky Lane, on a report of a male looking into vehicles and trying car handles. After an initial investigation of the area officers found nothing until they were called to the area 20 minutes later on the report of broken glass near a Lexus SUV. Upon arrival officers found 24 year-old Zane Brainerd hanging out of the Lexus. When officers approached Brainerd fled on foot, enacting a short chase, but was eventually brought into custody.

Upon further investigation, Brainerd possessed a bottle of whiskey and a Casey’s brand USB charging cord. Officers determined the items were stolen from the Casey’s located on 120 S. 90th, about one hour prior.

Damage to the vehicle estimated at $500 and the stolen items at $42.88.

Brainard was arrested for Refuse to Comply with Order of Police, cited and released for Injury or Destroy Property of Another, Enter Vehicle Without Permission and Steal Money or Goods.
