Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts laid out what we should expect as COVID-19 hospitalizations increase.

If 25-percent of hospital beds in Nebraska are used by a COVID-19 patient, the stat would move into the red zone implement the following:

  • No youth sports
  • High School sports fan attendance limited to household family members only
  • Bars move to carry out service only
  • Restaurants can only be open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Indoor gatherings limited to 10 people
  • Outdoor gatherings limited to 25 people
  • Schools remain open
  • More restrictions on elective surgies.

The full chart of restrictions are included. Ricketts didn’t rule out adding additional restrictions to the ones already laid out.

Right now, there are 905 COVID-19 patients in Nebraska hospitals.  That represents 20-percent.  It would take one day moving to the 25-percent to trigger more restrictions which would be roughly 1,170 patients.

In order to move from red to orange, the state would need to see a seven day rolling average inside the 20-percent column.
