Those bone jarring, tire popping potholes that are dotting Lincoln’s roadways are a frustration to drivers and a big job for LTU crews.  Maintenance Operations Manager Tim Byrne tells KLIN News following two major snow storms they are now out in force filling those pesky street craters as quickly as possible.

“if we’re not fighting the snow, we’re out there patching potholes,” Byrne says.  “We’re not waiting for community members to let us know.  We have multiple crews patrolling the streets and proactively seeking and patching those.”

Byrne says they have some crews that focus a large portion of their efforts on the major streets that impact the most vehicles.  He says other crews will respond to service requests from residential areas.

He says filling potholes in this weather is a big challenge because they have to remove the snow and ice before they can apply a cold asphalt patch.  Byrne encourages residents to report potholes where they see them so they can get to them as soon as possible.
