A woman heard a noise coming from her unit at Diamond Self Storage at 2601 N 27th Street around 10 a.m. Monday. The woman entered the unit and saw a wall had been removed and some of her items were missing. The woman saw a man exit the storage unit next to hers. That is when she left and called police.
Officers arrived and saw the left wall of the woman’s storage unit was missing and the ride side wall was loose. A man was found inside the unit with the loose wall and he was taken into custody.
Police say he gained access to the victim’s unit and the ones on each side. The woman identified him as the same person seen leaving the storage unit. Officers also found items stolen from the victim’s unit as well as another victim’s unit. They also found hammers, a pry bar and a screw driver.
40 year old Matthew Hutchinson was arrested for burglary and possession of burglary tools. Hutchinson was also wanted for two other theft cases in August and September. He was also cited for two counts of misdemeanor theft.
