Lincoln Police are investigating a series of mailbox break-ins in a neighborhood north of 24th and Superior. LPD Captain Todd Kocian says officers responded to a vandalism call in the
5000 block of Constitution Avenue around 7:15 Wednesday morning.
“A resident in the area discovered the individual mailbox cubbies in a cluster-type mailbox had been pried open,” Kocian says. “The same resident reported that a gold necklace valued at $500 that had been delivered to their mailbox was missing.”
The officer ultimately found four cluster mailboxes had been damaged in the area. The total damage is estimated at $6,000. It’s unknown if any mail is missing. The investigation is ongoing
and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Lincoln Police Department at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
