Lincoln Police say from Friday through Sunday officers responded to 105 crashes, including at least 67 on Saturday alone as snow fell across the city. LPD says Saturday was the 10th highest day of reported traffic crashes since 2018.
LPD is encouraging drivers to take extra precautions as we head into the winter months. “Please remember to give yourself extra time when you leave home and extra space between you and
the vehicle in front of you to avoid collisions on snow or ice,” says Public Information Manager Erika Thomas. “During inclement weather, stopping distance can easily double so please slow down. It’s important to plan ahead and check the weather so we can all make it to our destinations safely.”
She says even light accumulations of snow can make a difference in road conditions. She encourages residents to follow Lincoln Police on Facebook and Twitter throughout the winter season for safety tips.
