The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department will be taking part in the ‘Buckle Up, Every Trip, Every Time’ enforcement campaign over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend to promote awareness and increase the use of seatbelts and child restraint systems.

On Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. a high visibility safety checkpoint will be set up on Highway 6 just west of 98th Street.  Vehicles will be randomly pulled over and checked to make sure all of the proper documentation is in the vehicle and that all occupants are properly restrained.

When the checkpoint ends,  deputies from the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office will continue the mobilization efforts through saturation patrol from 8:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. Additional deputies, in marked patrol cars, will monitor traffic and watch for traffic law violations.

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office will continue saturation patrol throughout the weekend by increasing the number of deputies enforcing traffic law violations.  Additional deputies will be on duty starting Friday and continuing through Sunday.

Overtime for the additional deputies working during the mobilization will be paid through a mini grant funded by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
