Lincoln’s central shopping mall is gearing up for holiday cheer, all in support of a special cause.
The People’s City Mission (PCM) is presenting their 13th annual Starry Nights Christmas Tree Festival: 2023 Walk Through the Trees. PSM’s largest community event and fundraiser. During the event, the community will be treated to thirteen elaborate, designer-decorated full-sized and small Christmas trees sponsored by local businesses and churches.
This event is free to the public, “Our way of saying THANK YOU to Lincoln for all of your love and support through the year,” said PCM in an official statement.
The event begins on Wednesday, November 22nd, and then runs through the weekend (24th-26th) at Gateway Mall at 6100 O St, with Platinum event sponsor Cheever Construction. Also new this year:
- A Christmas Market with designer decorated wreaths, door hangers and locally hand-poured candles.
- The small trees are also for sale at the event
- A Christmas photo booth
- An area where kids can write and mail Letters to Santa
- Live entertainment each day, with several local dance and music groups
Additionally, a new way to help out with “The Be Kind Tree,” full of ornaments for purchase – each one providing for practical needs of the homeless – a new toy, a night of lodging, a box of diapers, a meal, etc. The thirteen featured Christmas trees will be auctioned off in an online silent auction in which anyone can participate. All proceeds go to benefit the homeless.
Attendees also have a chance to see a behind the scenes sneak peek of our designers as they set up and decorate their trees right out in the commons area of Gateway Mall on Tuesday, Nov. 21st.
