Lincoln Police are reminding drivers to be extra cautious around school zones and crosswalks after an 8-year-old child on a bike was struck Thursday morning while trying to cross the street at Coddington Avenue and South Street.
“The child was taken to the hospital by Lincoln Fire and Rescue to be checked out but did not appear to be injured,” says LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas. She says the 42 year old woman driving the vehicle was cited and released for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
She also issued a reminder to Lincoln drivers. “Please remain vigilant behind the wheel and eliminate any distractions, especially in school zones and crosswalks.”
