Lincoln Police were sent to Liberty First Credit Union off of North 46th and R Streets just after 1:30 a.m. Friday morning after a witness reported someone trying to steal an ATM.  “The witness reported 2-3 people all dressed in dark clothing using a chain to try and remove the ATM,” says Captain Todd Kocian.  “Officers arrived and found a Ford F-350 pickup abandoned with the chains still attached.”

Kocian says the truck had been stolen the previous day.  He says an undisclosed amount of money was taken from the ATM and damage to the machine is estimated at $20,000.  He says security video footage is being reviewed and the search for the suspects continues.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Lincoln Police Department’s non-emergency number at (402) 441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at (402)475-3600.
