The People’s City Mission wants to make sure people in need have a meal on their tables for Thanksgiving.  CEO Pastor Tom Barber tells KLIN News they will be giving away more than 500 Thanksgiving meal baskets to those in need on Saturday from 9:30am to 12:30pm at their Help Center at 68th and ‘P’ Street.

He says that those baskets will provide meals to more than 4,000 people.  The baskets include a turkey or ham and all the fixings for a complete Thanksgiving meal. He says the generosity of Lincoln residents makes programs like this possible.

They also anticipate serving meals to about 700 homeless people at their shelter on Thanksgiving day. The free meal is also available to anyone who would otherwise be alone on Thanksgiving.  The meal will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
