Lincoln Police were called to the U-Stop near 27th and ‘F’ Street Monday evening for a man who was harassing customers outside the store. Captain Todd Kocian says when officers contacted 44-year-old Christopher Bouwens they found he had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest and was taken into custody.
He says officers also discovered what appeared to be an explosive device in his belongings. “The device was a piece of PVC pipe approximately six inches long filled with an unknown substance with a fuse,” Kocian says.
The device was examined by Lincoln Fire & Rescue and determined to be a homemade explosive device. Bouwens was booked for for possession of a destructive device and his outstanding warrant.
