Lincoln Police have arrested two men for the robbery of DeLeon’s at 27th and Randolph Tuesday morning.  Police say 38 year old Timothy Washington entered the restaurant and cornered the two female employees demanding money.

They were able to get away and Washington helped himself to the money in the cash register and left the area.  While analyzing store video, investigators were able to identify Washington as the suspect.   Witnesses saw Washington flee the business and get into the passenger seat of a red Jeep Cherokee parked in the 700 block of S 26th Street.

Investigators determined the jeep belonged to 33-year-old Kevin Tomlin and that he was driving the vehicle at the time of the robbery.  On Wednesday around 2 p.m. investigators located Washington in the parking lot of Russ’s Market at 17th and Washington and saw him get on a moped.

Washington tried to flee on the moped but it collided with the passenger side of a vehicle on the south corner of the building that was driven by a plain clothes investigator.  Washington then fled on foot as officers told him to stop.  After a brief foot pursuit, Washington was taken into custody.

Investigators learned that the moped had been stolen on September 1 from the 2100 block of S 9th Street.   Tomlin was taken into custody without incident in the parking lot of Casey’s, 900 South Street around 4:30 p.m. while seated in the Jeep Cherokee.

Washington and Tomlin were both arrested for Robbery.  The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
