Lancaster County Sheriff’s deputies arrested an impaired driver early Tuesday afternoon after getting reports of a reckless driver on Highway 77 near Olive Creek Road. Captain John Vick says the driver was swerving and knocked down some traffic cones.
“We were then updated with a second call along the same route headed north toward Lincoln with a vehicle driving all over the road,” Vik says. Moments later the car crashed east of Highway 77 on Warlick Blvd.
Vick says a field sobriety test was conducted and a drug recognition expert was brought to the scene. it was determined that 43-year-old Joshua Day was driving under the influence of drugs. He says a this was the fourth time Day has been arrested for DUI, which is a felony in Nebraska.
“This just highlights the dangers that are also involved in drug impaired driving in addition to alcohol impaired driving,” Vick says. “We’re very fortunate that no one was injured in this case and the deputies were able to remove this intoxicated driver from the roadway.
