On Friday, September 29, at 4:35 a.m., police responded to an incident at the U-Stop, located at 942 South 27th Street, following a report of an assault.
According to the 62-year-old victim, she had been riding her bicycle in the vicinity of 24th and ‘B’ Street when a red or maroon sedan approached her. Someone got out of the car and attempted to take her bag. Fortunately, they did not succeed as the bag had been fastened through her bicycle basket.
The situation escalated when at least five additional individuals exited the vehicle and physically assaulted the victim. The attack resulted in her falling to the ground and sustaining minor injuries to her hand, along with complaints of knee pain.
Following the assault, the suspects fled the area, and nothing was reported as stolen during the incident. As law enforcement investigates this case, they are seeking assistance from the community.
