After the successful launch of the city of Lincoln’s first designated Food Truck Zone, The City Council is inviting residents to the first Food Truck Fest in the same location.

The event will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., this Saturday (September 30), at the City Food Truck Zone located at 7th and “K” streets, under Rosa Parks Way.

KLIN News spoke with City Councilman Tom Beckius ahead of the festival, who said the council has long recognized the benefit of bolstering the food truck market in Lincoln, “Food trucks could be incubators of larger and more successful restaurants here in our community. We’ve had a couple of examples of that already, but it’s also about getting that pipeline of talent for restaurant tours in our community, and sometimes that comes via food trucks. So we want to make sure that we invest in those ideas and incubate those ideas.”

The event will include appearances by City Council members, tailgate and basketball games, and music. Food will be available for purchase from the following vendors:

  • Chi Style Kitchen
  • MotorFood
  • La Cocina
  • Street Treats
  • El Taconazo
  • Mary Ellen’s
