Teresa Ewins was surrounded by family and friends as she was sworn in as Chief of Police for the City of Lincoln during a private ceremony Monday morning. Her badge was pinned on by her brother and sister who traveled from out of state.
Command level police officers from Chicago, Dallas and Omaha also came to witness the historical moment. Chief Ewins is the first female police chief for the city of Lincoln.
“Help us congratulate Chief Ewins as she embraces our community and leads our agency,” LPD said in a social media post. “We are excited for the future of LPD.” Ewins was a commander with the San Francisco Police Department before coming to Lincoln.
