A 35 year old man was arrested after Lincoln Police say officers found him throwing items from the third level of the University Square Parking garage north of 14th and O Street around 5:00 Monday morning.
Captain Todd Kocian says Markus Lopez as officers made contact with Lopez he was holding a large metal object. “He ignored commands and began to flee. An officer attempted to deploy a taser, however it was ineffective”.
Officers eventually caught up to Lopez and were able to take him into custody. Eight separate vehicles sustained damage to their doors and windows. Damage to the vehicles is estimated at $5,300. About $1,000 worth of items were taken from the vehicles and police were able to recover them.
Lopez was booked for criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking and obstructing a police officer.
