Lincoln Police took a report around 9:30 Saturday that an 11 year old girl had run away from home.
Around noon, several people called police to report suspicious activity in northeast Lincoln. One witness reported seeing a young female saying “help me” before she got into a vehicle. Another witness said the girl had walked into a gas station saying she needed help and was being held against her will by an adult man. She said she had been threatened by the man who had sexually assaulted her. She left and got into a green vehicle.
Eventually, she was let out of the vehicle at the Super Saver at 26th and Cornhusker. She called police around 12:45 p.m. to report that after running away from home, she encountered a man she did not known. The man assaulted her and then drove around Lincoln to different locations before she was dropped off at the grocery store.
She was able to give a description of the man and a license plate number from a green 2000 Chevy Malibu was obtained from store security video.
Investigators contacted Omaha Police to check the address of the registered owner of the vehicle at 60th and Buckingham. The vehicle arrived as officers were at the residence and they took 30 year old Miguel Lupersio Jr. into custody around 5:30 p.m. He was identified as the same man from the video and as described by several witnesses. He was booked for 1st degree sexual assault of a child and child enticement.
