Lincoln Police were called to DeLeon’s on South 27th Street around 9:30 Saturday night. Employees reported that a man was inside the restaurant causing a disturbance and refused to leave. Witnesses told police that 52 year old Richard Olson, who appeared to be intoxicated, had been yelling at people and he punched the soda fountain machine causing $1,000 in damage.
Olson was taken into custody but refused to walk to the cruiser. He started yelling and kicked the officers, one in the leg and stomach. Due to a pre-existing issue, Olson was taken to a hospital to determine if he was fit to be jailed. While at th hospital, Olson kicked a nurse in the shoulder and started calling them names.
Once Olson was cleared at the hospital, he was taken to jail and booked for assault on a police officer, assault on a health care provider and criminal mischief.
