A Lincoln woman put up quite a fight after running from officers several times on Monday, August 16th. At 9 a.m., officers saw 43 year old Angela Maughan in the area of 42nd and Starr driving a yellow Mini Cooper with fictitious plates. Maughan was known to be wanted on seven outstanding warrants and two local broadcasts. The vehicle took off from officers who spotted it an hour later in the same area. As officers tried to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle again recklessly took off.

Around 1 p.m., U.S. Marshals saw Maughan in a parking lot at 46th and Vine Street. She again tried to leave but was boxed in. That is when Maughan started threatening officers, resisted arrest and violently kicked at them. Several were kicked several times in the legs and she spit on one officer’s face. A spit sock was used to prevent further exposure to officers.

Maughan continued to kick at officers as she was moved to a cruiser. While inside the vehicle, Maughan kicked an officer in the stomach. She continued to kick while inside the cruiser until she was transported to jail. She was booked for 3rd degree assault on an officer and obstruction.

Since then, Maughan has been charged with four counts of 3rd degree assault on a police officer and 2nd subsequent offense resisting arrest.

The broadcast alerts for Maughan were for a hit-and-run on May 5th at 44th and L. She was cited for leaving the scene of an accident and careless driving. The outstanding warrants were for domestic assault, violation of protection orders, obstruction, stalking, and criminal mischief.
