Investigators say a carelessly discarded cigarette started a fire that caused about $35,000 damage to a Lincoln home on Tuesday afternoon. At 12:35 pm Lincoln Fire & Rescue responded to 2244 Dudley. When firefighters arrived they reported that the porch was on fire and that there was pressurized smoke coming from the corner of the two-story, single-family house.
The fire had spread from the porch to the home, traveling up and into the attic. Firefighters were able to access the fire and extinguish from the interior of the house.
No injuries reported. The four adults and child that live there were relocated by the Red Cross.
