A rollover crash Monday afternoon in the 1200 block of south 56th Street sent the 28 year old driver to the hospital. LPD says a witness saw the Tahoe speeding northbound on 56th Street around 4:00. The vehicle hit the curb, went through a fence and struck a tree before coming to rest on it’s side next to a house.
Steve Pejsar lives across the street and tells KLIN News he and his wife heard the crash. “I could hear it go through the fence and then the rolling, it was just a very strange sound.” Police say there was $1,000 damage to the house and the vehicle was totaled. There was $600 damage to the fence and tree. There was one person inside the house at the time but was not hurt. No drugs or alcohol is suspected.
Pejsar says he’s never seen anything like this in his neighborhood. “A lot of people kind of race up and down the street a little bit, mostly motorcycles, but this is nothing like anything we’ve seen around here in 30 years.
