A 29 year old Omaha man ended up in jail after Lincoln Police say he ran from a traffic stop near 10th and ‘O’ Street just before 4:00 Sunday morning. “The officer was conducting a DUI investigation with the driver when front seat passenger ran from the vehicle,” says LPD Investigator Scott Parker.
He says the officer saw and heard Tyrell Gabriel drop a large black item on the sidewalk. “Gabriel retrieved the item and continued to run away.” Arriving officers found Gabriel in the area and located a black Ruger handgun in some bushes at 9th & P.
The handgun was reported stolen out of Omaha. Gabriel was transported to jail and booked for possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, obstructing a police officer and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
