No one was seriously hurt after a car struck an ambulance from the City of Waverly at 70th and O Street Thursday afternoon.  LPD Captain Todd Kocian says a Toyota Camry driven by a 17-year-old was eastbound on ‘O’ Street around 2:45 when it collided with the southbound ambulance.

He says the ambulance had it’s lights and sirens on and was transporting a patient to a Lincoln hospital.  “The driver of the Camry reported that he looked down to retrieve his cellphone from between the seats and when he looked back up the ambulance was in the intersection and he didn’t have enough time to stop.”

The 17 year old driver of the Camry was cited for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. LFR finished taking the patient to the hospital.
