Strong to severe storms could put a damper on outdoor plans this 4th of July. Large hail, damaging winds, and locally heavy rainfall will be the main threats during the late afternoon and evening hours.

Expect hot and humid weather on Independence Day (heat index near 100 for many) before a line of storms moves through during the afternoon and evening. A few storms could become strong to severe, with damaging winds, hail, and locally heavy rain/flooding all possible.
