On Thursday morning Lincoln firefighter Jason Love was presented with the Doug Wells Memorial Firefighter of the Year award for 2022. “Jason goes above and beyond daily as a Lincoln Fire & Rescue member and excels at his role (Fire Apparatus Operator),” the department said in a Facebook post. “Jason always arrives to work with an awesome attitude and mentors many Lincoln Fire & Rescue members” Love is credited with brining Operation Warm to Lincoln in 2014.
The program provides winter coats to children in need and has been a success every year. Last fall, Operation Warm handed out its 10,000th coat to a Lincoln child. “Our community is better because Jason brought Operation Warm to Lincoln,” the department said in the Facebook post.
Fire Chief Dave Engler presented Jason with his award with his family and crew on hand for the recognition.
