Lincoln Police say one man was killed and another injured in a two vehicle crash over the weekend. It happened around 4:15 Saturday morning near 56th and A streets.
“The preliminary investigation indicates a 2011 Hyundai Genesis was traveling southbound on 56th and collided with a 2015 KIA Soul, which was westbound on A Street,” says Sergeant Chris Vollmer.
He says the driver of the Hyundai, 29-year-old Alexis Carayorgopol, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, 35-year-old Henry Holden of Lincoln, was transported to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
“Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this incident regarding Mr. Holden,” Vollmer says. Citations have not yet been issued but the investigation is continuing.
Lincoln Police are still investigating the circumstances of the crash. They say one driver, a man from Lincoln, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, also a Lincoln man, was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
