Investigation continues into an apparent murder-suicide involving 3 people, including a newlywed Lincoln couple, Sunday morning in Grand Island.

Investigators found evidence of 11 shots fired at the sceneĀ in northwest Grand Island on the 4100 block of Arizona Avenue.

According to authorities, 26-year-old Rex Goodell died by suicide around the time officers arrived on the scene. Evidence suggests 23-year-old Emily Goodell and 23-year-old Hayes Morgheim were shot and killed.

Court records show that investigators found shell casings in multiple sections of the home, as well as a handgun with magazine on the scene.

Marriage records indicate that Rex and Emily Goodell were married in March of this year. It is unknown at this time why the Goodells were in Grand Island.

The couple had two young children, that were not present at the home during the shooting and they are safe and accounted for.

Due to officers close proximity at the time of the incident, they have turned the case over to SCALES (South Central Area Law Enforcement Services) for an impartial investigation.
