By Mark Vail Jun 5, 2023 | 7:24 AM

Chris Whitney is an avid runner and is participating this week in the MS Run The US event, a cross-country relay to raise funds for MS research.  Whitney is the communication coordinator for the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce and is a Broadcast House alumni.  He has been running for years and recently recovered from surgery to repair a badly broken ankle.

Beginning Tuesday, June 6th, Chris will begin his leg of the relay in Wray, Colorado, and finish Sunday, June 11th in Holdrege, Nebraska.  The 168 miles will require him to complete nearly 28 miles per day.  He told KLIN News he hopes to complete 30 plus miles the first few days so the final day can be shorter and he can finish earlier in the day.

Whitney is running to honor his mother who was diagnosed with MS in 1988.  In 2021, he ran the same leg and raised over $17,000 for the organization and is looking for support again this year.

Details about the run can be found here  The organization is @MSRunTheUS on Instagram and on Facebook as well. Follow Chris’ journey via his social media:  Instagram  @chrwhits   Twitter  @ChrisRunsForMS.  Donations can be made via https://msruntheus.salsalabs.org/2023relay/p/chrisw2023/index.html

At the end of his segment in 2021, he was welcomed by his mother in Holdrege.
