Two staff members at the Reception and Treatment Center (RTC) were assaulted by two different inmates Thursday, both resulting in serious injuries.
The first assault occurred when an inmate refused directives to leave an area that was unapproved. A staff member was punched in the head. Other staff members nearby moved in quickly to restrain the inmate and remove him.
While staff were securing the area, a second inmate struck another staff member in the head casing the staff member to fall and hit his head on the concrete. That staff members had a concussion and facial injuries.
Both staff members were treated at the hospital and released.
