Nebraska Safety Council (NESC) will be holding a Community Day the first Friday of each month, located at Gateway Mall north wing, behind Scooter’s Coffee between 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
NESC is using this Friday’s Community Day to focus on providing wellness services and raising awareness about the importance of physical health and mental wellbeing. Each month we will feature one of our three divisions; workplace safety, driver education, and wellness services. Community Day will be held the first Friday of every month at the same location and time.
Wellness Services Manager with NESC, Karen Rehm told KLIN News, “As a nation, we are in crisis mode regarding our emotional well being… and when we’re looking at that epidemic of stress and anxiety and depression, about 60% to 90% of all doctors visits have been related to stress.”
Attendees can stop by and visit with the team for a complimentary blood pressure check and health coaching session, visit with Lincoln Physical Therapy, and learn more about upcoming training.
Fittingly, May is mental health awareness month. The event will also focus on workplace wellness for employers and employees. Providing information on how to address and assist with building and sustaining a positive work environment and culture.
“We are quickly reaching a crossroad where the cost of healthcare and the impact of lost productivity will have an impact on organizations of all sizes. To address this challenge, the Nebraska Safety Council is partnering with Nebraska companies to implement worksite wellness programs and assist individuals in learning more about their own personal health risks.” says Karen Rehm, Wellness Services Manager.
Additionally road safety services will be offered. Teenagers can enroll in Drivers Education classes, and try out a driving simulator and drunk goggles.
