Lincoln Police have made an arrest after dozens of shots were fired in the Railyard District around 2:00 a.m. on April 2. Sergeant Chris Vollmer says officers found 34 year old Louis Benson in one of the vehicles that was damaged by gunfire.
“A Glock handgun was found in the vehicle with him. Upwards of 70 spent shell casings have been processed from the scene, several matching the Glock handgun found in Benson’s vehicle.”
Vollmer says Benson had a previous felony conviction from 2013 that prohibited to have any firearms. Benson was arrested for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and was booked into the the Lancaster County Jail.
In addition to several vehicles, some businesses in the area were damaged by the gunfire. Vollmer says more than one gun was used in the incident and they are looking for other suspects.
