Lincoln Police on Wednesday morning announced they have arrested two men for a shooting on June 12 that resulted in the death of a man. 31 year old Deontae Abron was shot when a fight broke out at a party near 60th and Adams. He died three days later.
“Officers processed scene for evidence, canvassed the area, and obtained video from neighbors, witnesses, and businesses,” says Acting Police Chief brian Jackson. “Based on those videos, investigators were able to identify 26-year-old Shantrel Hickey and 24-year-old Daqwan Hickey as individuals firing weapons in the area. Daqwan Hickey was seen firing a weapon into the air and Shantrel Hickey is seen shooting in the direction of the victim.”
Jackson says on Tuesday night investigators took Daqwan Hickey into custody during a traffic stop in the area of 28th and ‘O’ Street. He was arrested for Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Investigators also took Shantrel Hickey into custody at his home. He was arrested for 2nd Degree Murder, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
This investigation is ongoing, and Jackson is encouraging anyone with information to call 402-441-6000 or make an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600. “A large number of people attended the gathering and are witnesses to this incident. We are asking for people to come forward who may have information regarding this case.”
