It was a busy Monday afternoon for Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews.  They responded to two house fires in less than an hour.  The first alarm came in just after 2:00 near 17th and A Street.

“We arrived and found a little bit of smoke and quickly found the fire in the basement of one of the units of the duplex,” says LFR Captain Nancy Crist.   She says the fire was brought under control in about 15 minutes.  No one was hurt and the six residents will have to be relocated. The damage was confined to the basement of the one unit.   The cause is not yet known.

Just before 3:00 p.m. crews responded to a two alarm fire near 18th and Groveland in north Lincoln.  Crist says the home was engulfed in flames when they arrived and the resident was safely out when they arrived.  The windy conditions fanned the flames, which spread to a detached two car garage.  The cause of the fire is not yet known.
