A wind driven fire damaged a home near 14th and D Streets around 5:30 Sunday evening. “When crews arrived, firefighters found a fire in pile of leaves that had extended to the home,” says Firefighter MJ Lierman.
She says the fire was quickly put out. A carelessly discarded cigarette in the pile of leaves is being blamed for the fire. Damage is estimated at $10,000-$15,000.
One cat was rescued and the two residents had to be relocated by the Red Cross.
