For parents looking for something for their kids to do this summer season,  Lincoln’s Parks and Recreation has a great opportunity opening up for registration this coming Monday, April 3rd.

While we patiently wait for City pools open up May 29th, The Parks and Rec Department announced that registration begins at 9 a.m., Monday, April 3 for swim and dive team leagues. Swim/dive leagues will be open for youth ages 6 to 18. Enrollment is limited to 100 per team… so early registration is suggested. Registration is $71 for either team. Registering a child for both teams is an additional $25. There is a $5 discount for each additional child in either team.

Swim teams are planned to be held at 8 city pools: Ballard, Belmont, Eden, Highlands, Irvingdale, Star City Shores, University Place and Woods Pools

Dive teams are planned to be held at 4 city pools: Eden, Irvingdale, University Place and Woods Pools

Practice begins June 5. The season ends with the All-City Meets on July 21 (dive and swim), July 22 (swim).

Additionally, Parker’s Swim Lessons registration opens Monday, May 1. Its a multi-week swimming program taught at most pools. Levels taught are parent and child (age 6 through 36 months), preschool (age 3 through 5), levels 1 to 5 (age 6 and older). Registration is $60 per child. Sessions of levels and class times vary by location. Not all locations offer all levels or times.

KLIN News spoke with Lincoln’s Parks and Recreation Coordinator Melissa Lindeman.

“It’s a great way to get kids involved in activities in the summer. Kids make great friendships and it’s a great way to get exercise and be involved and be part of a team all summer long,” said Lindeman.
