A man accused of assaulting a driver and stealing his car near 36th and Huntington Wednesday afternoon has been arrested. Captain Todd Kocian says during a follow up investigation 32 year old Lance Buss was taken into custody Wednesday night.
“We have determined that the vehicle had been seen at a couple of different locations throughout the city, including a car rental company and a local hospital,” Kocian says.
LPD officers spoke with employees of the car rental company and were able to identify 32-year-old Lance Buss as the suspect. Officers were able to locate the stolen car Thursday in the 2900 block of N. 58th Street.
He was eventually arrested around 8 p.m. Thursday without incident and booked for robbery. Police say Buss jumped in front of the car near 33rd and Dudley and got into the car and told the driver he needed a ride. After pulling into a parking lot, police say Buss assaulted the driver and forced him out of the car before driving off in it.
