Wednesday marked 50 years since the U-S withdrew from the Vietnam War.  During an afternoon ceremony at the State Capitol, Governor Jim Pillen honored Nebraska Vietnam War veterans for their service.

“On behalf of Nebraskans we are incredibly grateful for all of what you gave up and your families,” Pillen says.  “50 years after is a time to really say thank God for the lives that you’ve had and all that you’ve done.”

Pillen presented the veterans in attendance with an honorary lapel pin.  There were nearly 64,000 Nebraskans who served in the war and 396 never made it home.
