There was heavy smoke coming from a second floor apartment near 9th and G Streets when LFR crews arrived around 12:30 Monday afternoon. LFR Captain Nancy Crist says residents were able to safely make it out.
She says fire was quickly extinguished. “There was fire and heavy smoke damage to that apartment and the apartment below sustained water damage.”
Damage is at $30,000 to the apartment building and $15,000 to contents. Residents of the apartment where the fire started won’t be able to return for several weeks. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
