A 28 year old Lincoln man is facing a long list of charges after Lancaster County Sheriff’s officials say he crashed a car near 54th and Saltillo Road and broke into a house around midnight Saturday.

“He went through a drainage ditch, went up into the yard, hit a tree and caught on fire,” says LSO Chief Deputy Ben Houchin.   He says when deputies arrived they could not find the driver.  “Then a call comes in that someone is trying to break into the house, kicking in the backdoor.”

Houchin says 28 year old Jason Potts did eventually get into the house.  “He goes down into the basement and then we arrive and he’s laying on the couch with a blanket on him.”

Houchin says Potts was combative and fought with deputies.  He says one deputy was headbutted, which broke the skin and caused  swelling and bruising.   He was then arrested for DWI-drugs, assault on an officer, criminal mischief, burglary, resisting arrest and leaving the scene of an accident.
